YouTube Deletes Viral Death Video of Ebenezer Obey -

YouTube has pulled down a viral video falsely claiming the death of juju music legend Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, after fans and his legal team lodged formal complaints.

The 15-minute clip, which surfaced in early September, spread panic among fans worldwide and triggered outrage over what many described as a damaging and irresponsible act.

Legal Action and Fan Pressure Force Takedown

A swift intervention came from Obey’s lawyer, Barrister Akeem Aponmade, who petitioned YouTube to remove the clip. His action, backed by massive pressure from fans and associates, forced the platform to act.

“We all clamoured for the video to be pulled down and our prayers have been answered,” Aponmade said, welcoming the decision.

Fans Condemn Damaging Hoax

Prominent fan Dr. Gani Adediran described the viral claim as “misleading and injurious” to Obey’s reputation.

“Irrespective of the motive of the creator of the video, the false information was uncalled for and damaging to the celebrated musician. This is why we stood against such a false report,” he said.

Tunji Odunmbaku, the General Manager of the Obey Music Group, also applauded YouTube’s decision, noting that the removal had restored calm.

“This is a good development and we are happy YouTube acknowledged our complaint. We urge people to shun negative stories about our ever-cherished music legend. Instead, let us continue to wish him more grace and strength,” Odunmbaku stated.
