Veteran Nollywood actor Olusegun Akinremi, widely known as Chief Kanran, has died at the age of 72.

The legendary Yoruba movie star passed away on Friday morning, according to filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi, who announced the news on Instagram.

Oloketuyi wrote: “Popular actor Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, died on Friday morning.”

The BBC also confirmed the development after speaking with the actor’s daughter, who disclosed the heartbreaking news.

A Nollywood Icon Remembered

Chief Kanran was celebrated for his versatile roles that combined humour, tradition, and cultural depth, making him one of the most respected names in the Yoruba film industry.
