Tributes as Gov. Oyebanji, Jonathan Others Bids Farewell to Ex-Milad, Caleb Olubolade

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has described the late Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (rtd) as a gallant officer whose life embodied patriotism, selfless service, and commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

Speaking at the final funeral service at St John’s Military Church, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, the Governor said the former Minister of Police Affairs was one of Ekiti’s most illustrious sons and a rare breed in Nigerian politics.

A Legacy of Service and Integrity

Governor Oyebanji praised Olubolade’s meritorious service to the Nigerian Armed Forces, his sterling record in public office, and his devotion to his community and state.

On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, he condoled with the family and prayed for God’s comfort.

Governor Oyebanji said, “As I listened to the tributes, especially from his children, I saw deep emotions and profound respect.

“At moments like this, there are questions without answers, but I urge you to let God carry you through this difficult time.”

Dignitaries Gather to Honour Olubolade

The solemn ceremony drew an array of dignitaries including former President Goodluck Jonathan (represented by his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan), Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Ekiti’s first civilian Governor Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, and former PDP Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George.

They joined family, friends, and military colleagues to pay their last respects to the late military administrator.

Former President Jonathan, through his wife Dame Patience Jonathan, described Olubolade as a gallant naval officer who left indelible marks during his tenure as Military Administrator of Bayelsa State and in other roles he occupied nationwide.

Born in Ipoti-Ekiti, Caleb Olubolade served Nigeria with distinction both in the military and in politics. His passing at the age of 71 marks the end of an era for his community and the nation at large.
