A leading grassroots mobilization group in Ekiti State, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV), has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for what it described as a historic show of unity that once again placed Ekiti State on the world map for the right reasons.

In a statement signed by its Convener, HC Ade, on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the group praised the Governor for rallying virtually every political heavyweight, opposition leader, labour union, civil society group, youth, women and cultural organisations to Abuja for the submission of his nomination and expression of interest forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat.

The carnival-like event held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, witnessed an unprecedented parade of stakeholders including former Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; all nine serving National Assembly members from Ekiti; 26 state lawmakers led by Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye; four former deputy governors; and former PDP governorship candidate Hon. Bisi Kolawole, who led members of ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose’s political family to openly endorse Oyebanji.

Also in attendance were leaders of organised labour such as NLC, TUC, NUT, NULGE, RTEAN, RTEWU and Okada/Keke unions, as well as youth groups, women’s groups, Ekiti State University Alumni Association, APC elders’ forum, and cultural organisations who turned the occasion into a colourful festival of unity.

The OSV noted that the massive turnout was more than a political endorsement but a reaffirmation of the “Omoluabi ethos” of Ekiti people, projecting the state’s cultural and political maturity before the APC national leadership.

“Come 2026 and 2027, the choice of Ekiti people is clear, Governor Biodun Oyebanji and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Yesterday’s event was a statement of unity, peace, and collective resolve,” the group declared.

It further commended Oyebanji and other state leaders for prioritising collective interest above personal ambition, stressing that the event has set a new benchmark for political inclusiveness and solidarity in Nigeria.

The group urged citizens to sustain the momentum with peace, vigilance, and commitment to ensure victory at the polls.
