The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured the people of Ekiti State that their mandate will be protected in the build-up to the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking during the submission of nomination forms by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, conveyed the party’s message on behalf of the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

Chief Eneukwu said:

“I stand here today on behalf of the National Chairman of our great party, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee has come here, first of all, to thank the people of Ekiti State for endorsing our number one citizen, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“He is the pillar upon which we all stand, and you have done the right thing by adopting him in your zone. Coming to Ekiti to adopt him, and standing here again to reaffirm it.

“In ancient Greek tradition, before anyone assumed leadership, they first underwent apprenticeship. The present Governor of Ekiti State is indeed a product of apprenticeship.

“He has served in almost every administration of Ekiti State under past governors. In doing so, he was also learning the art of leadership and today, he exemplifies that experience.

“All stakeholders in this state, all those involved in the election and the democratic process of electing a governor are fully represented here.

“The National Chairman has reminded us to remain an umpire. And indeed, as the National Vice Chairman of the South West has rightly said: we have heard you loud and clear, and the difference is clear.

“We will not forget the man who stood by the party when we needed him most. And I can assure you: we will not elect just anybody—we will elect somebody whom the entire people of Ekiti are united in supporting.

“On behalf of the National Chairman of our great party, and the members of the Planning Committee, I assure you today: your mandate will be protected. We are not going to discourage your mandate. We will ensure that it is properly managed so that the truly popular candidate will emerge.”

The submission of Governor Oyebanji’s nomination forms was attended by top APC stakeholders from across the state.
