RE: FACTIONAL FIRE IN EKITI APC: How consensus politics and Abuja interference could cost Tinubu 2027
By Wole Olujobi
Is this story from oga Deji Ayelabowo or Lanre of a popular Ibadan-based newspaper? The language and theme of the story point to Lanre’s trademark doing what he knows best: concocting bull and cock story disingenously tagged ‘exclusive’, and as usual, spewing falsehoods to mislead the public. If it is Lanre, I am not surprised because that is the kind of journalism he practises to earn the medals of infamy that expose him as one of the worthless reporters in Nigeria. He wrote recently, alleging that the NEC of APC had endorsed Kayode Ojo and rejecting Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, citing reports and statistics that didn’t exist to support his claims. Barely a month later, the same NEC approved Oyebanji and disqualified Kayode Ojo.
Almost every point raised in the story is false and patently speculative. Fayemi imposed Oyebanji? Jesus! I was there in the meeting of the Central Working Committee of the Fayemi administration when intelligence report on all aspirants was presented to members. No one beat Oyebanji in the scores in that report. There in the meeting, it was resolved that mobilisation should commence IMMEDIATELY for Oyebanji’s campaign for scoring first in the intelligence.
In the story posted by Mr Ayelabowo, it was alleged that Dr Fayemi and Engr Kayode Ojo were enemies. Jesus! Which Kayode Ojo? What kind of human beings are these reckless writers who concoct stories in beer parlours based on speculations under the influence of alcohol that deny them sound judgment and logical reasoning to spin falsehoods to mislead the public? Kayode Ojo and Fayemi are enemies? Is it Kayode Ojo of this planet earth or the one that inhabits the red planet in Mars? Is it Kayode Ojo that graced Fayemi’s birthday in Isan-Ekiti recently in a flowing agbada as against his trademark short suits that this writer is presenting as Fayemi’s enemy because of his alleged 2022 disappointment? If any hostilities existed between Fayemi and Kayode Ojo, those hostilities ended with Fayemi’s administration. Those promoting hostility between Fayemi and Kayode Ojo are liars misleading Nigerians. The Kayode Ojo I saw at JKF’s birthday came to celebrate a leader and friend.
The writer also posited that Tinubu will lose 2027 election because of his alleged support for Oyebanji? How? What kind of journalist is this writer? He makes me swoon and ashamed to be a journalist! It is on record that Ekiti was the first state to start Tinubu’s 2027 campaign. Ekiti is the most stable for APC in the South West where both the Executive and Legislature are composed of ONLY APC members, including all the local governments. Ordinary residents of Ekiti State, including workers, staged a massive rally few months ago to endorse Oyebanji in a huge rally in Ado-Ekiti, citing his sterling performance and omoluabi conduct to Ekiti people. Oyebanji’s support among Ekiti people goes beyond party lines, as all former governors, both APC and opposition, had made it plain that Oyebanji is the way to go. Same with the civil servants, who, to demonstrate their support, went with Oyebanji to Abuja to submit his nomination form recently. In Abuja, they also rallied support for President Tinubu. And back in Ekiti, both Tinubu and BAO are the subjects of workers’ support in the next elections. We all know that in Ekiti State, whoever enjoys the support of workers is the winner of the governorship poll. The records are there. Few days ago, Oyebanji approved 2024 and 2025 promotions for workers. That is the first in Ekiti State when workers will enjoy that bumper goodie. In response, the workers hooted, praising Oyebanji and declaring that they would stay with him in his support for Tinubu to win second term. Against this background, therefore, when did the workers, who constitute the largest voting population in Ekiti, decide to vote against Tinubu and Oyebanji in the next election to punish them for Oyebanji’s candidacy in the June 2026 guber poll? How can a journalist be so daft and unreasonable to concoct that contraption to deceive a discerning public?
The writer also alleged that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele deceived Tinubu on Oyebanji’s acceptance among Ekiti people. Was the writer present when Senator Bamidele was giving a wrong information to Tinubu on Oyebanji? Shameless lie from the pit of hell!
I advise the writer to find something to do instead of indulging in ridiculous lies that diminish his worth among his professional colleagues and ordinary citizens.
