Oyebanji Thanks Tinubu for Appointing Ekiti-born General as Chief of Defence Staff

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the Governor described the appointment as a well-deserved honour for both General Oluyede and the people of Ekiti State.

General Oluyede, an indigene of Ikere-Ekiti, previously served as Chief of Army Staff before his new elevation.

Governor Hails Ekiti-born Military Chief

Governor Oyebanji said the appointment reflected President Tinubu’s recognition of excellence and merit, noting that General Oluyede’s career embodies courage, integrity, and loyalty values deeply rooted in the Ekiti spirit.

“The new CDS epitomizes the core values of courage, integrity and loyalty for which Ekitis are known. He possesses the high sense of professionalism and discipline required to excel in this national assignment,” the Governor stated.

He expressed full confidence in General Oluyede’s leadership capacity, describing him as a gallant officer with a sterling record of accomplishments and service to the nation.

Ekiti Pledges Support for New Defence Chief

Governor Oyebanji urged the new Defence Chief to bring his experience and vision to bear in repositioning the Armed Forces, especially at this critical time in the country’s security landscape.

“The Government and people of Ekiti State are grateful to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for General Oluyede’s appointment. We wish him success in this new assignment and pledge our unalloyed support for him,” Oyebanji said.
