Oyebanji Swears In Reappointed Commissioners, Advisers In Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday swore in the commissioners and special advisers whose appointments were dissolved in August, marking their formal return after undergoing screening and confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

Fresh energy filled Jibowu Hall as the governor reminded the returning cabinet members that their reinstatement was not automatic, noting that the dissolution earlier in the year allowed the government to re-evaluate its direction and strengthen its delivery machinery.

During the ceremony, Oyebanji explained that the break was both strategic and necessary, stressing that governments worldwide undertake mid-term reviews to assess their policies and adjust for improved service delivery. He told the appointees that the short pause should have served as a period to rest and recharge for the tasks ahead.

The governor made it clear that their comeback must be justified through commitment and loyalty to the administration. He urged them to approach their assignments with diligence, innovation and full transparency, adding that public office demands the highest level of probity and accountability.

Returning to duty, according to him, leaves no room for distractions. Oyebanji said the administration’s achievements so far are only the beginning, insisting that Ekiti people deserve more. He described this stage of the government’s journey as similar to the final lap of a relay race where full effort is required.

Reflecting on the last three years, the governor said he remained proud of the administration’s strides in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, arts and culture as well as overall socio-economic development. He, however, noted that while some cabinet members performed exceptionally, others must step up and prove their relevance in the council.

He warned against disconnecting from the grassroots, saying no appointee should isolate themselves in the state capital. He emphasised that governance must be accessible and appointees must engage routinely with communities and local party structures.

As the 2026 election year approaches, Oyebanji reminded them that although he is the APC candidate, the business of governance must remain the priority. He charged them to balance politics and official duties without allowing government work to suffer.

Those reinstated include Prof Bolaji Aluko, Taiwo Olatunbosun, Akintunde Oyebode, Ajobiewe Kolawole, Chief Folorunso Olabode, Dolamu Adeniyi, Karounwi Oladapo, Peju Babafemi, Atibioke Olaiya, Tosin Aluko, Awe Olufemi, Prof Patrick Tedela, Seun Fakuade, Adedayo Adesola, Dr Kareem Akande, Prof Rasaki Ojo Bakare, Kayode Fasae and Femi Ajayi.

All special advisers affected by the August cabinet dissolution were also sworn in alongside the commissioners.
