Oyebanji Commissions Two Township Roads in Ado, Calls on Ekiti Residents to Take Ownership of Infrastructure

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has called on residents to take full ownership of road infrastructure in their communities to ensure sustainability and long-term benefits.

Oyebanji made the appeal in Ado Ekiti on Thursday while commissioning the newly completed Bovas–Spotless Road and Palace–Oke-Age–Idolofin Road, as part of events marking his administration’s third anniversary.

Represented by his wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the Governor said his government remains focused on delivering infrastructure that enhances the quality of life and promotes economic growth across the state.
Governor Oyebanji warned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages, unauthorized excavation, or any act capable of damaging the roads.

“Let me urge all road users and residents to maintain and work together to preserve this road. It is an investment in our collective future, and we all have a role to play in maintaining it,” he said.

He described roads as vital assets that connect communities, boost trade, improve security, and enhance the general well-being of the people.

According to him, the newly completed township roads will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and open fresh economic opportunities for residents and businesses within the area.

Commissioner Lauds Oyebanji’s Commitment to Infrastructure

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, said the projects reflect Governor Oyebanji’s dedication to improving infrastructure and transforming Ekiti’s urban landscape.

He noted that most of the roads had been in terrible condition for years before the present administration intervened.

“The kind of road network the Governor envisages is one that will ease movement, enhance accessibility, and improve the overall living conditions of residents,” Adebayo said.

He urged residents to take responsibility for maintaining the roads, warning against dumping refuse in drainages or constructing illegal speed bumps.

Community Leaders Commend Oyebanji

Leaders of the benefiting communities, Mr. Adebayo Folorunso and Chief Adetileyin, speaking on behalf of landlords and residents, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the projects, describing them as timely and impactful.

They praised Oyebanji’s “shared prosperity” vision and pledged continued support for his administration.

“We will stand by you and mobilize massively for your re-election so that these good works can continue,” the community leaders assured.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habitat Adubiaro; Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Folakemi Olomojobi; Chief of Staff, Mr. Niyi Adebayo; members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, and members of the State Executive Council, among others.
