Oyebanji Commissions Oshodi Electrification Project, Reaffirms Commitment to Ekiti’s Growth

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has restated his administration’s resolve to embark on projects that will serve as the foundation for the state’s long-term development, with a strong focus on providing critical infrastructure that improves the people’s economic wellbeing.

The Governor gave this assurance on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during the official commissioning of the Oshodi electrification project.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, Oyebanji said the electrification project symbolises his government’s dedication to empowering communities through access to steady power supply that will enhance education, healthcare and business growth.

Electricity as a Driver of Economic Growth

Governor Oyebanji emphasized the central role electricity plays in economic and social transformation.

“This project is yet another testimony to our commitment to provide critical infrastructure that enhances the welfare and economic wellbeing of our people,” he said. “Electricity powers businesses, supports education, improves healthcare delivery, and enhances the overall quality of life in communities.”

He expressed confidence that with the completion of the Oshodi electrification project, residents would experience renewed economic activity and better living standards.

“Our artisans, traders and entrepreneurs will now have greater opportunities to expand, while our children can study in a more conducive environment,” he added.

Project a Game Changer for the Community

Prof. Adubiaro noted that the project would serve as a game changer for the Oshodi community, boosting local businesses and reducing rural-urban migration.

She commended residents of the community for their patience and cooperation during the execution of the project, and also appreciated the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities for its technical input and supervision.

Atere Commends Oyebanji’s Investment in Power Sector

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Power Infrastructure, Engr. Philip Atere, described the project as a major investment that demonstrates the Governor’s passion for sustainable development.

He applauded the Oyebanji administration for its consistent investment in the state’s power sector, saying many communities that had been in darkness for more than fifteen years now enjoy electricity supply.

Council Chiefs Urge Residents to Protect Infrastructure

In their goodwill messages, the Chairmen of Ado North and Ado Central Local Council Development Areas, Hon. Tokunbo Gbadamosi and Hon. Toyin Ojo, lauded the Governor for prioritizing rural electrification and community empowerment.

They urged residents to take ownership of the newly installed transformers and other equipment to prevent vandalism and theft.

According to them, protecting government projects will ensure steady power supply and help sustain the community’s economic activities for long-term development.
