Oyebanji Appoints Omojola as New BOUESTI Vice Chancellor

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved the appointment of Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola as the new Vice Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the Government said the appointment takes immediate effect. Prof Omojola, a Professor of Animal Science with focus on Animal Products, Processing and Food Safety, is currently the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan.
He succeeds Prof Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, whose tenure ends on January 6, 2026.
Born on August 14, 1962, in Usi-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Prof Omojola attended Notre Dame College, Usi-Ekiti between 1976 and 1980. He later proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 1984 where he earned a Second Class (Upper Division) degree in Animal Science in 1988. He obtained his Master’s degree in 1991 and completed his PhD in 1997 at the same institution.
He began his academic career as Lecturer II at the University of Ibadan in 1997 and rose steadily to become a Professor in 2011. Over the years, he has held various academic and administrative roles including Head of the Animal Products and Processing Unit (2000–2023), Director of the UI Teaching and Research Farm (2016–2018), and Member of the University Senate (2011–date).
Prof Omojola has also served as Visiting Professor at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (2013–2019), and as External Examiner at the University of Calabar (2012–2016) and Osun State University, Osogbo (2015–2018). He is currently the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan.
Governor Oyebanji, who is the Visitor to BOUESTI, urged the new Vice Chancellor to deploy his rich academic and administrative experience to reposition the university for global competitiveness. He also appreciated the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof Adeoluwa, for his years of service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
