Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has spoken out on the bonus dispute that briefly disrupted Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying preparations this week.

The squad refused to train on Tuesday in protest over unpaid bonuses and allowances owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The standoff ended on Wednesday after the federation assured the players that the outstanding payments would be settled.

Speaking after Nigeria’s 4–1 win over Gabon in Thursday’s playoff match, Osimhen said the concerns raised by the players were legitimate and needed to be addressed.

“There are some things that have to be rectified,” Osimhen told ESPN UK. He also praised the prompt response of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, who met the team ahead of the match. “Big kudos to the NFF president. He swiftly came into the picture and got it sorted, which is fine and good.”

The striker added that the players were focused on keeping the momentum as they prepare to face Gabon again on Sunday.
