Former Rivers Administrator Meets Tinubu, Wale Edun, EFCC Chairman in Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday received the immediate past Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Ibas, who ended his six-month tenure as sole administrator of Rivers State on September 17, was ushered into the meeting by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.
The meeting, which took place around 6 p.m. at Aso Rock, comes just three days after Ibas dismissed calls by the Rivers State House of Assembly to probe expenditures during his stewardship.
Although the Presidency did not release official details of the discussions, a source familiar with the matter told our reporter that Ibas’ appearance was connected to his six-month administration in the oil-rich state.
Edun had earlier been sighted at the Villa on Wednesday evening and later returned carrying a file, before joining Ibas and Olukoyede for the closed-door session with President Tinubu.
When contacted, Ibas’ media aide, Hector Igbikiowubo, said he was not aware of the meeting but promised to provide clarification later.
Ibas’ tenure as Rivers State Administrator ended after President Tinubu directed the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state House of Assembly to resume office from September 18, following the expiration of the emergency rule imposed in March.
