Feedback From Wards Reassures Victory for Oyebanji at APC Primary – Rt. Hon. Aribasoye

By Ojo Ayodeji
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has expressed confidence that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) will secure a landslide victory at the forthcoming governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing strong grassroots support across the state.
Aribasoye stated this while featuring on a special programme on Progress FM, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday.
Arriving at the station from his ongoing second-round tour of wards in Ikole Local Government Area, the Speaker said feedback from his engagements showed overwhelming preference for the Governor, whom he described as “a performer who leads with character, compassion, and a deep understanding of Ekiti people’s needs.”
According to a statement signed by Babajide Agbeyo, Special Adviser (Media) to the Speaker, Aribasoye commended Governor Oyebanji for completing the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport and for his administration’s “giant strides in agriculture,” which he said justify the state’s investment in the sector.
He noted that the government’s agricultural initiatives have strengthened food security and contributed to peace across the state by engaging youth in productive ventures in areas once known for insecurity.
The Speaker decried what he termed “developmental setbacks” caused by frequent changes in leadership among progressive-minded administrations, describing continuity as vital to consolidating gains in governance.
Aribasoye disclosed that the October 27 APC governorship primary would involve all duly registered party members, adding that wards across the state were already competing on who would deliver the highest number of votes for the Governor.
He also clarified the presence of security operatives in parts of the state, saying it was a proactive measure to safeguard residents in light of security concerns in some neighboring states.
The lawmaker emphasized that under his leadership, the State Assembly had maintained a constructive and results-oriented relationship with the executive, free of rancor, in the collective interest of Ekiti people.
During his ongoing ward tour in Ikole, the Speaker accompanied by party leaders and stakeholders urged APC members to demonstrate their support for the Governor through a massive turnout at the primaries.
Former Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Patrick Ajigbolamu, who received the team at Ward 5, expressed confidence that Governor Oyebanji would record a seamless victory, while other stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to the continuity agenda.
The Aribasoye team also made a stopover at Ayegbaju-Ekiti, where they met the Oye Local Government mobilization team led by Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Olaleye, alongside lawmakers Tope Longe and Idowu Odebunmi, and were warmly received by an enthusiastic crowd of party faithful.
