The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has advised Nigerian youths to shun tokenism and entitlement mentality if they are to secure a promising future.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye gave the advice at his country home over the weekend, while serving as Chairman of the 2025 Odo Ayedun Day Celebration.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Babajide Agbeyo, the Speaker encouraged young people to live a focused life that would produce enviable results, stressing that “opportunities must always be matched with adequate preparation.”

Citing his personal struggles through different stages of life before attaining his current height, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye urged the younger generation to make names for themselves and by extension, enhance the image of the town.

He also recapped some of his contributions to the community, which include facilitating employment in various sectors, attracting a new transformer, providing monthly support to several individuals, and securing prospects for more massive road construction, among other feats.

On the town’s vision for growth, the Speaker emphasized that “much could only be achieved in an atmosphere of unity and cooperation,” calling on all stakeholders to embrace every strategy that would sustain peace and promote desired progress.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye noted that the community had witnessed remarkable development under the current administration, linking the achievements to the efforts of indigenes occupying strategic positions in government.

The Speaker added that “greater cooperation would usher in more development, especially with a governor who is masses-driven and committed to impactful governance.”

The host monarch, Oba Solomon Ajibade, acknowledged the contributions of the Speaker and other indigenes toward the progress of the town. He encouraged stakeholders to “reach out to anyone who may feel disconnected, in order to strengthen unity and peace.”

The monarch also pledged total support to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, describing its strides and impacts as “laudable.”

At the event, Aribasoye donated ₦500,000 to support Odo Ayedun and rallied colleagues, guests and aides who made generous contributions to boost community development.

He later reached out to residents at different locations, distributing packaged food items and cash to “further put smile on their faces.”
