Ekiti Speaker Aribasoye urges leaders to protect vulnerable, fight corruption, uphold justice

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has charged political leaders to use their positions to defend the vulnerable, pursue justice, and uphold integrity in public service.
Aribasoye made the call on Sunday while delivering a lecture on Leadership in a Changing World at the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Pentecost Arena, Ado Ekiti.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Babajide Agbeyo, the Speaker stressed that true leadership demands “competencies, integrity and compassionate captaincy within the framework of national service.”
He urged aspiring leaders to first examine themselves before seeking power.
“Before entering or remaining in government service, clarify your non-negotiables. Prayerfully and scripturally develop a robust habit that will assist you in making informed policy judgments. Build wise counsel networks and be transparent and accountable,” the Speaker advised.
Aribasoye, who also doubles as a pastor, called for selfless leadership, saying Christians in politics must set the pace by standing for truth, rejecting corruption, protecting religious liberty, and ensuring they serve people of all faiths without bias.
He further emphasized that justice for the oppressed should never be compromised, and leaders must deliberately mentor the younger generation “in a manner that places character above charisma.”
The Assembly helmsman also highlighted courage, excellence, and continuous self-development as vital values for sustaining integrity and upholding truth under pressure.
Drawing lessons from the Bible, Aribasoye profiled Daniel, Joseph, Nehemiah, Esther, and Paul as transformational leaders whose qualities of faithfulness, compassion, conviction, and integrity remain models for contemporary governance.
