Ekiti Speaker Applauds Governor Oyebanji’s Commitment to People’s Welfare

…Leads Delegation to Commission Electrification Project in Iyemero

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the people of the state.

Aribasoye stated this while representing the Governor at the commissioning of the Eruku Community Electrification Project in Iyemero-Ekiti over the weekend. He disclosed that the long-neglected Omu–Ijelu–Itapaji Road had recently been approved by the World Bank for reconstruction, describing it as another milestone in the administration’s rural development agenda.

Delivering the Governor’s remarks, the Speaker said the Oyebanji-led administration has made significant investments in rural electrification and other infrastructure, in fulfilment of the promises made to the people.

He described the electrification project as a major step that underscores government’s determination to light up communities, boost productivity, enhance agricultural output, and drive industrial growth across the state.

Governor Oyebanji, through the Speaker, expressed optimism that the project would serve as a catalyst for his administration’s food security and empowerment programmes. He urged the beneficiary communities to harness the new facility for local business expansion and overall communal progress.

Also speaking at the event, the Governor’s Technical Adviser, Engr. Philip Atere, said the new project would transform the economic outlook of the area, which hosts several investors and farm settlements. He commended the Speaker and the State Assembly for their support through appropriate budgeting and oversight.

Atere also acknowledged the roles played by traditional rulers in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the execution of the project.

In his remarks, the Olu of Iyemero, Oba Akinsanmi Ayeni, expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for the timely intervention, praying for his continued success and pledging the community’s cooperation with government initiatives.

Similarly, the Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Michael Ogungbemi, hailed the electrification project as one that would significantly boost local productivity and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the region.

He further commended the Governor for establishing military bases to strengthen security in border communities, promising that residents of the council would continue to rally behind the Governor’s re-election bid.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, the Onitapaji of Itapaji-Ekiti, the Chairman of ALGON, and other community leaders.

The Speaker later joined other dignitaries to commission the electrification project located at FMS Farms, Iyemero-Ekiti. Earlier in the day, he accompanied Governor Oyebanji to the commissioning of the Itapa–Ijelu–Omu Road Project, inaugurated by former Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi at Ijelu.
