Ekiti Mourns as Alara of Aramoko Oba Olu Adeyemi, Dies at 82

The people of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State are in mourning following the death of their traditional ruler, the Alara of Aramoko, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi.

#NewsAlert reported that the monarch reportedly passed away on Friday at the age of 82, with the family confirming his death in a statement on Saturday.

Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before rising through the ranks of the civil service to become Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government. His long years in governance and administration laid the foundation for his impactful reign.

Reign Marked by Development and Unity

Ascending the throne in 2009, the monarch brought a hands-on leadership style into the palace, fostering peace, cultural preservation, and infrastructural growth in Aramoko.

His reign also prioritised youth empowerment, conflict resolution, and community cohesion, earning him the respect of his people and neighbouring communities.

Champion of Education

Beyond his traditional duties, Oba Adeyemi served as Chancellor of Ekiti State University, where he supported policies and projects aimed at raising educational standards and improving access for students

In their statement, the family described the monarch as a leader whose “impact on the community will forever be cherished as testament to his enduring legacies.”

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
