The Ekiti State Government has announced alternative routes for motorists and transporters heading into Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, as road rehabilitation works continue across the state.
According to the Ministry of Works, the move aims to ease traffic congestion, ensure safety, and protect road infrastructure while major roads undergo repairs.
The alternative routes provided include:
- From Omuo: via Isinbode – Ara – Ikole Ekiti
- From Ilesha: via Efon – Ikogosi – Ilawe – Ado-Ekiti
- From Akure: via Ibuji – Igbara Odo – Ilawe – Ado-Ekiti
In a statement, the government stressed that articulated vehicles, such as trailers and heavy-duty trucks, are prohibited from using these alternative roads.
The administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and safety of residents, noting that discussions are ongoing with the Federal Government to speed up repairs on federal roads in the state.
The Ministry disclosed that work is already in progress on two major roads: the Ado–Ikere–Akure Road and the Ado–Ijan–Ekiti Road. Efforts are also underway to ensure that other federal roads in the state are awarded and rehabilitated soon.
