Ekiti APC Members Urged to Revalidate Membership Ahead of Governorship Primaries

By Ojo Ayodeji
A leading grassroots mobilisation group in Ekiti State has issued a clarion call to all All Progressives Congress (APC) members to take part in the ongoing membership revalidation exercise across the state.
The Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV), a foremost pro-Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji movement, made the appeal ahead of the APC governorship primaries scheduled for October 27, 2025.
According to the group, the exercise — which began on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state — is crucial for strengthening the party’s internal structure and ensuring a smooth primary process.
APC National Committee Flags Off Exercise in Ekiti
The Chairman of the APC National Committee on Membership Revalidation, Jarret Tenebe, arrived in the state alongside other committee members to oversee the process.
Tenebe explained that the revalidation would update the party’s membership register, a key requirement for the success of the forthcoming governorship primaries and the 2026 general elections.
Exercise Aligned with APC Constitution
Speaking during a strategic meeting of the OSV, APC chieftain Olupitan Adebayo (popularly known as UNUSUAL) from Ilogbo Ward emphasised that the process aligns with Article 9.3(1) of the APC constitution.
The provision mandates that only financially up-to-date members are eligible to vote or contest in party primaries, underscoring the importance of active participation.
A Call for Stronger Party Structures
In a statement signed by OSV Convener HC Ade after the group’s strategy session, members were urged to seize the opportunity to revalidate their membership and ensure they remain eligible for the primaries.
“A strong and dedicated membership is the backbone of any political party. This exercise will not only clean up our database but also reflect the growth and unity of our great party,” the statement read.
The group reiterated its commitment to supporting Governor Oyebanji’s continuity agenda and urged all committed APC members to visit their respective wards for revalidation.
