…I Won’t Relent in My Service to Ekiti People — Oyebanji

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has declared that Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, will require little or no campaign effort to win the June 20, 2026 governorship election, citing his “superlative performance” in office over the past three years.

Governor Okpebholo made the remark on Wednesday in Ikere-Ekiti while commissioning the Ikere–Igbara Odo Road and a farm dormitory project, both executed by the Oyebanji administration as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office.

The Edo governor, visibly impressed by the scope of development in Ekiti, said the wide public acceptance of Governor Oyebanji reflects genuine appreciation for his people-centred governance and infrastructural transformation.

“Mr. Governor, my brother and friend, you have done well. I’ve seen the BAO fever everywhere in Ekiti, and it shows how much your people appreciate you. I drove on the flyover you built within just three years — you don’t need much campaign to win in 2026,” Okpebholo said.

He added that Oyebanji’s style of leadership mirrors the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“With the level of development I have seen here, I can confidently say Governor Oyebanji is setting new standards of governance that the people can feel and see,” he noted.

The governor joins other Southwest leaders, including Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa of Ondo, who had also commissioned various projects in Ekiti as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Oyebanji: I’ll Keep Serving My People with Dedication

Responding, Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed gratitude to his Edo counterpart and the people of Ekiti for their support, reaffirming his commitment to deliver more impactful projects.

He noted that the Ikere–Igbara Odo Road would not only boost the state’s economy but also improve security and ease movement of farm produce to markets.

“This road used to be a nightmare, a route where criminal elements operated freely. Today, we have turned it into a productive corridor that will open new economic opportunities for our people,” Oyebanji said.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the states through fiscal reforms that have enabled massive infrastructural renewal nationwide.

“I sincerely thank Mr. President for the policies that have freed more funds for development. We will continue to justify the people’s trust with visible projects and responsible governance,” he added.

Stakeholders Applaud Oyebanji’s Development Drive

Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, described the newly completed road as the “lifeline of Ekiti’s economy,” explaining that the project includes dual drainage channels and durable surfacing for long-term sustainability.

The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti and Chairman of Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, commended Governor Oyebanji for his sincerity and commitment to community development.

“Your passion has broken the jinx of continuity in Ekiti politics. The people now see genuine progress, not promises. Your support base is real and earned,” the monarch said.

He urged the governor to maintain his performance tempo as public expectations for his second term continue to rise.
