Ekiti 2026: APC chieftain Segun Adelugba backs Oyebanji for re-election

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Adelugba, has declared his support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s re-election bid, calling on residents to sustain their backing for the governor’s fiscal and development policies beyond 2026.
Speaking on Wednesday during Ekiti Television’s programme EJIRE, Adelugba said continuity was key to consolidating reforms and ensuring steady growth across the state.
He dismissed claims by “mischief makers” that the governor was concentrating projects in Ado-Ekiti, stressing that developmental projects have been spread across Ekiti.
Adelugba listed projects such as the Ikole–Ara-Isinbode, Isaba–Ikoyi–Igbemo, Ado–Iworoko–Ifaki, Ikere–Igbara-Odo, Itawure–Okemesi, Ido-Ile–Okemesi, Ikere–Emure, and the Ado ring road, noting that several schools and hospitals have also been renovated and equipped under Oyebanji’s administration.
The APC stalwart further praised the governor’s agricultural initiatives, which he said boosted food production, job opportunities for youths, improved security in farming communities, and helped stabilise food prices through interventions along the value chain.
Adelugba also commended the role of former governors in supporting Oyebanji, describing their cooperation as vital to stability and continuity in governance.
The APC Chieftain added that Oyebanji’s long-standing involvement in Ekiti’s political history including his role as secretary to the committee that campaigned for the creation of Ekiti State and his service under successive administrations makes him uniquely positioned to consolidate development.
On political appointments, Adelugba appealed to APC members who are yet to be considered to remain patient and continue working for the party’s success, assuring them that opportunities would come.
He equally urged eligible citizens especially first-time voters, new residents, and those who lost their Permanent Voter Cards to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to participate in the 2026 governorship election.
