Aribasoye Reaffirms APC’s Commitment to Due Process Ahead of Governorship Primary

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will strictly adhere to due process in confirming its flag bearer ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Aribasoye gave the assurance while speaking on “Ṣe o mọ́ BAO?”, a political programme on Ekiti FM Radio. He disclosed that the APC will conduct delegate elections across all wards on Saturday, while the elected delegates will on Monday, October 27, ratify the candidacy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s consensus candidate at a Special Nomination Congress.
According to a statement signed by Babajide Agbeyo, Special Adviser (Media) to the Speaker, and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Aribasoye said the APC remains a party guided by law, order, and fairness. He stressed that all processes leading to the emergence of the party’s candidate would strictly comply with the party’s constitution.
He noted that Governor Oyebanji’s emergence as the consensus candidate would be both well-earned and legitimate, adding that the formal ratification by delegates would serve as a seal of confidence in his leadership and performance over the past three years.
Commenting on the recent disqualification of some aspirants, the Speaker explained that the party’s screening exercise was based on established guidelines, including the requirement for aspirants to secure a minimum number of valid nominators across all local government areas. He said those who fell short of the criteria could not be cleared to participate in the primaries.
Highlighting the achievements of the Oyebanji administration, Aribasoye pointed to remarkable progress in governance, youth empowerment, agricultural advancement, job creation, and infrastructure. He described the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport as a landmark project that has repositioned the state for economic growth.
“The completion of the Ado-Ekiti Ring Road Project, which now connects the three senatorial districts to the airport, has enhanced mobility, trade, and industrial development across the state,” he said.
Aribasoye also praised the Governor’s inclusive leadership style, describing it as a unifying force that has fostered peace, political stability, and shared progress among Ekiti citizens.
He expressed optimism that Governor Oyebanji’s continued stewardship would consolidate the gains recorded so far and further advance Ekiti’s long-term development goals.
