#AnambraDecides: Soludo Wins Polling Unit

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo who is also the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has recorded a sweeping victory at his polling unit in Saturday’s governorship election.

At Polling Unit 002, Umuezeadigo Street, Isuofia Ward, Aguata Local Government Area, Soludo polled 417 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate scored 4 votes, and the Accord Party candidate got 1 vote.

Out of the 430 accredited voters, 8 votes were declared invalid. The Presiding Officer announced the result around 5:30 p.m., confirming the governor’s overwhelming win at his home base.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 75.86 per cent of results from the Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

Checks by Nigeria News Alert on the IReV platform at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday showed that results from 4,339 out of 5,720 polling units had been transmitted.

The update came less than four hours after voting ended across the 21 local government areas of the state.

INEC had earlier assured that election results would be progressively collated and uploaded directly from polling units to enhance transparency and real-time access to election data.

As of the time of filing this report, collation officers were still receiving and verifying results at ward and local government centres, while security operatives maintained strong surveillance to ensure order and credibility.

Some election observers have praised the timely transmission of results, describing it as a positive sign of improved efficiency and transparency in Nigeria’s electoral process.
