Obasanjo Congratulates Oba Ladoja on Ascension as Olubadan, Warns Against Political Conflicts -

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated Oba Rashidi Ladoja on his formal ascension to the throne of Olubadan, urging him to embrace humility, patience and tolerance in his new role.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi and made available to journalists on Wednesday, Obasanjo described the Olubadan stool as an exalted and highly responsible position that requires divine wisdom and guidance.

The former president, who is currently in New York for the 80th United Nations General Assembly, offered his royal salutation in Yoruba: “Ade a pe lori, bata a pe lese”

“It is an exalted and responsible position to be the traditional ruler of all Ibadan people. It requires humility, patience, divine wisdom, tolerance, and advice from wide and varied quarters to succeed,” Obasanjo stated.

He further advised the new Olubadan to distinguish clearly between traditional and political leadership, stressing that both should not be in conflict.

“I wish you all the best and the grace, guidance, and direction of Almighty God,” Obasanjo added.
