Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Expresses Confidence in APC, Restates Preparedness for Victory -

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver a credible and transparent governorship primary ahead of the 2026 election in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after appearing before the APC Governorship Screening Committee, the governor declared his preparedness to secure the party’s ticket at the October 27 primary.

Oyebanji, who was the first aspirant screened by the panel led by Hon. Tunji Olawuyi at Amor Hotel, Gwantape, Abuja, said the exercise was smooth, transparent, and a vital step toward a credible primary process. The session, which lasted about 15 minutes behind closed doors, focused on his credentials and eligibility.

Commending the party’s leadership, the governor said the screening structure would strengthen internal democracy and prevent disputes. He urged the APC national leadership to guarantee a level playing field for all aspirants, stressing that whoever emerges should be supported in the interest of party unity and service to the people.

“This is just the screening stage. Next comes the appeal committee, the congress committee, and then the election proper. Whoever wins must be backed fully, because it is not only about the aspirants, but about ensuring the APC remains in power to serve the people,” Oyebanji said.

He further expressed confidence that the panel handling the October 27 primary would conduct the exercise strictly in line with party guidelines, ensuring fairness and credibility.

The governor was accompanied by a high-powered delegation of political leaders and allies, including the Chairman of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC), Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi; Senator Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South); Senator Cyril Fasuyi (Ekiti North); Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye; Hon. Kolawole Akinlayo; retired Air Vice Marshal Niyi Ojuawo; Hon. Wunmi Ogunlola; Hon. Bimbo Daramola; Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju; Prince Wole Ajakaiye; Mr. Yinka Oyebode; Hon. Segun Dipe; and Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, among others.

The screening committee is expected to continue its work through Wednesday, during which all four aspirants for the APC ticket will be assessed.
