President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday met with French President Emmanuel Macron for a private working lunch at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

The engagement was confirmed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who posted the development on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Onanuga:

“President Bola Tinubu, with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, during a working private lunch at the Élysée Palace, Paris. Wednesday, September 10, 2025.”

While details of the discussions have not been made public, the high-level meeting underscores the growing diplomatic ties between Nigeria and France.

Tinubu, who began his annual working leave on September 4, is expected to spend 10 working days abroad. His itinerary includes visits to France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.

The Paris meeting with Macron marks one of the key highlights of the Nigerian president’s trip, though officials have yet to disclose the specific agenda.
