Oyebanji Hails Ekiti Labour Leaders for Sustaining Industrial Peace

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has commended the leadership of organised labour in the state for sustaining industrial peace and harmony, a move he said has been pivotal to the state’s economic growth and stability over the past 35 months.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday during a meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership and the newly inaugurated executive of the NLC Women’s Wing, Oyebanji praised the unions for their cooperative spirit, describing it as the bedrock of his administration’s achievements.

He emphasized that no investor would commit resources in a volatile environment, noting that Ekiti’s peaceful atmosphere has enhanced development and positioned the state as an attractive investment hub.

“If you had been fighting me with strikes and shutdowns, investors would never come here. But because you embraced peace, Ekiti remains one of the safest and most stable states in the country,” the governor said.

Inclusive Governance and Worker Support

Governor Oyebanji lauded the labour leaders for their trust in his administration’s openness and transparency, stressing that he does not take their cooperation for granted.

He congratulated Mrs Bade Gboyega, the new Chairperson of the NLC Women’s Wing in Ekiti, and assured her and her team of his administration’s full support to succeed in their new assignments.

The governor also pledged brighter days ahead for Ekiti workers, citing President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms as key drivers of improved welfare and opportunities.

“By the time we complete this tenure, most outstanding issues will have been resolved. The President’s reforms are already yielding results, and I am confident it can only get better,” Oyebanji added.

Labour Leaders Reaffirm Support

In his remarks, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, Chairman of NLC Ekiti, applauded Oyebanji’s leadership style, assuring him of workers’ loyalty both in service and at the polls when the time comes.

Also, NLC Women’s Wing Chairperson, Mrs Bade Gboyega, commended the governor for creating an inclusive environment for women in governance. She promised that women across the labour movement would mobilize strongly in support of Oyebanji’s continuity in office.

The meeting was attended by the Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi; Chief of Staff, Mr Niyi Adebayo; Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode; DG Community Communication, Mrs Mary Oso-Omotoso; and SSA on Labour Matters, Comrade Faromiluyi.
