OPINION: The Special ‘State Address’ by Ekiti Governor
I listened to the simulcast of the ‘statewide address’ by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of EKITI STATE earlier today and in all honesty, it’s needful for us to extol the efforts and patriotism of the Governor, especially, for taking a stand of peace and nobility just as he has always been doing right from his hay-life.
The Governor was able to remind everyone that politics should not be a “do-or-die” affair. He emphasized the need to uphold the core spirit of brotherhood that binds us together as one big bunch and chunk in Ekiti State, regardless of our political leanings and differences. He has cued us into seeing ourselves as one indivisible entity: “Ekiti KAN”, ONE EKITI.🫂
Therefore, there’s need to be loyal to the stable peace and development of the state rather than seeking self-serving interests. It’s now incumbent on all to ‘shy out’ of the resolve for distorted information and other political brigandages.
However, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji who at a young age, volunteered to be part of the Stakeholders to actualize the creation of EKITI STATE, knew and understood the pains it took to achieve the super-mission that fortunately earned us the severing from Ondo State to Ekiti State—- an independent state to form and rule its own government, he cannot ‘ergo’, afford to look away while the hard-earned integrity of the State is being relegated to the murky water of politics. His positions are very clear signals of cohesion and oneness.
The target must be “EKITI DEVELOPMENT FIRST” and we can’t seek development whilst destroying our personal identity as ‘OMOLUABI’, just because of wanton political desperation that hings on over-ambition by certain individuals who are bent on making the State ungovernable by virtue of coordinated and sponsored media and physical attacks.
Moving forward, let all hands be on deck, as we prioritize the developments of the State and shun actions that could further suppress the overall relative peace the State has been enjoying with respect to the excellent leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), overtime.
