Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Street Vanguard Warns Against Rumour Campaign

The famous grassroots mobiliser for the re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Oyebanji Street Vanguard (OSV), has raised alarm over what it described as attempts by some “unscrupulous and overzealous supporters” to derail the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State through falsehoods and divisive tactics.

In a statement on Friday , the group alleged that certain individuals, having realised their inability to defeat incumbent Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) at the polls, had resorted to peddling unfounded rumours about political leaders in the state.

According to OSV, the smear campaign is targeted at creating rifts among top stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti, including former Governor Adeniyi Adebayo, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, in order to weaken support for Governor Oyebanji.

The group, however, stressed that the governor enjoys overwhelming backing across all tiers of government and political structures in the state.

“The national leadership of our great party, all state, local government, and ward executives are solidly behind Governor Oyebanji. The Ekiti National Assembly members, the 26 State Assembly lawmakers, past governors including those from the PDP era, former senators, former House of Representatives members, the Honourable Minister for Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake, the State Executive Council, and indeed the good people of Ekiti are united in their support,” the statement said.

OSV further maintained that every vote for Governor Oyebanji translates into support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the alignment of state and federal leadership is critical for sustained development.

Dismissing claims of cracks within the APC family in Ekiti, OSV insisted there is no discord between Governor Oyebanji and other leaders of the progressive camp.

“We urge citizens to ignore any rumour of disunity. There is no truth whatsoever in such claims. Ekiti is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji under the APC,” the group declared.

Reaffirming its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, OSV said the political “ship of good governance and development” in Ekiti had already sailed, anchored on stability and continuity.

Ekiti kete, time for us to further be informed and beware.

It is imperative we bring to the public of good people of Ekiti State that ahead of the 2026 governorship election, some unscrupulous overzealous supporters has taken upon themselves to derail the election having realised that they do not have any iota of change to defeat the incumbent.

These few individuals have taken up the job of peddling and spreading unfounded rumours about some of our political leaders as pass time just to achieve their nefarious plan.

They are quick to forget that the national leadership of our great party All Progressive Congress, all the State, Local Government, and Ward Executives are solidly behind the aspiration of Governor Oyebanji All the Ekiti National Assembly members including all the 26 Ekiti State Assembly members, all the past governors of the State including those that governed under PDP, all the former Senators, HORs from the State, the Honourable Minister for Mines and Solid Minerals Development- Dr. Dele Alake, the entire State Executive Cabinet, including every right thinking Ekiti people is solidly behind the re-election of Governor Oyebanji because every vote, every support given to BAO is automatically for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gcfr

Consequent upon their failed bid to ignite crisis among some selected groups in some selected Local Governments recently in an attempt to create a political stalemate towards the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji come 2027/2, it is evidently clear that their next strategy is the campaign of columnist against some of our selected leaders like forner governor Adeniyi Adebayo, former governors Kayode Fayemi, the Senate Leader Senator (Dr.) Opeyemi Bamidele etc just to create rift between them and the Governor.

The famous grassroot mobiliser for the re-election of Governor Abiodun Oyebanji – OYEBANJI STREET VANGUARD (OSV) however, urge all good and law abiding citizens of the State to dispel any rumour of any rift within the rank and file of the leadership of the State and Governor Oyebanji. The group thereby wish to assure every lover of our dear State that there is no iota of truth in their new round of rumours to the effect that there is a crack on the wall of unity within the progressive camp in Ekiti State. Ekiti State is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji under our great party All Progressive Congress.

The ship of good governance and development of Ekiti state has left the harbour, on a stable political atmosphere built on continuity of good governance we shall get there.
