Christmas: Ekiti Speaker Urges Christians to Uphold Peace, Lawfulness

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has urged Christians across the country to conduct themselves peacefully and contribute positively to society as they celebrate Christmas.

Aribasoye gave the advice in his Christmas goodwill message, noting that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises peace, love, righteousness and service to humanity. He said the season should inspire believers to live out the values Christ stood for through compassion, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence.

According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Babajide Agbeyo, the Speaker reminded Christians that Christ came into the world to save souls, provide solutions to human challenges and promote peace among humanity, stressing that these virtues must reflect in the daily conduct of believers.

He said the Christmas season should rekindle love, kindness and a commitment to uplifting the less privileged, adding that a true follower of Christ must be ready to offer hope and support to those in distress rather than create tension in society.

“Christ came to the world to establish an era of peace as the Prince of Peace. His messages, His answers to questions, His solutions to problems and His instructions to His followers were all in good faith and aimed at instituting a movement of positive minds. This should be noted by all for emulation,” Aribasoye said.

The Speaker urged Christians to respect the laws of the land and set good examples worthy of imitation, stressing that no true follower of Christ should be found promoting crisis or engaging in acts that contradict Christian values.

He also emphasised the need to sustain peaceful coexistence among people of different religious beliefs in Ekiti State, noting that peace remains a key requirement for meaningful development.

Aribasoye expressed concern over rising criminal activities and social vices threatening public order in Nigeria and other parts of the world, calling on Christians to use the season of Christ’s birth to pray for divine intervention and national stability.

He congratulated the Christian community on the celebration of Christmas and expressed optimism that the season would usher in renewed hope, unity and divine blessings for Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
