Christmas: Okemesi/Ido-Ile LCDA Chairman Greets Christians, Calls for Moderation, Vigilance

The Executive Chairman of Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajibade Sunday Owolabi, has congratulated Christians in the council area, Ekiti State and across Nigeria on the celebration of Christmas.
In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday in Okemesi-Ekiti, Hon. Ajibade described Christmas as a season of love, sacrifice and reflection on the teachings of Jesus Christ, calling on Christians to uphold the core values of the season.
The Chairman urged residents to celebrate in moderation and avoid actions that could put their lives and property at risk. He noted that the current economic realities require prudence, understanding and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
According to him, Christmas should go beyond merriment and entertainment, stressing that Christians should use the period to show love, forgiveness and compassion, as exemplified by Christ.
Hon. Ajibade appealed to well-meaning individuals and families to reach out to the less privileged in their communities, including widows, orphans and the aged, saying such gestures would give true meaning to the season.
He said, “Christmas is a time to remember the poor and vulnerable among us. I urge those who are blessed to extend a helping hand to the less privileged so that joy will spread across our communities.”
The council boss also advised residents to be vigilant and security conscious throughout the festive period, noting that safety remains a collective responsibility.
He urged community members to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to relevant security agencies and community leaders, adding that early reporting would help prevent crime and ensure a peaceful celebration.
In the same vein, Hon. Ajibade cautioned against the use of fireworks and knockouts during the festivities, describing them as dangerous and capable of causing avoidable accidents, injuries and fire outbreaks.
He said the safety of lives and property must remain paramount, urging parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards during the celebration.
The Chairman further called on Christians to continue to pray for Ekiti State and Nigeria, particularly for the success of the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
According to him, sustained prayers and support for the governor would help strengthen peace, development and good governance in the state.
Hon. Ajibade commended Governor Oyebanji for his people-oriented policies and developmental strides, assuring that the Okemesi/Ido-Ile LCDA would continue to align with the state government’s vision for growth and inclusive development.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to grassroots development, improved security and the welfare of residents, pledging that his administration would continue to work in the interest of the people.
The Chairman wished Christians a peaceful and joyous Christmas celebration and prayed that the season would usher in renewed hope, unity and prosperity for all.
