Ekiti West BAO Primary Election Committee Concludes Second Phase of Ward Tour Successfully

The BAO Primary Election Committee for Ekiti West Local Government Area has successfully concluded the second phase of its comprehensive tour across all 11 wards in the council, marking another milestone in the ongoing grassroots mobilisation campaign in support of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

According to a statement signed by Comrade Osungbekun Kamal, Secretary of the Media and Publicity Committee, the final leg of the ward tour took place on Wednesday, October 9, beginning from Ward 6, Ikogosi, the hometown of the Governor, before proceeding to Erijiyan Wards 4 and 5, and later Wards 3, 1, and 2.

The committee said the tour provided a platform for constructive engagement and strategic discussions with party leaders and stakeholders on mobilising the grassroots to ensure a resounding victory for Governor Oyebanji at the APC primary.

The statement noted that the team received an enthusiastic reception in all the wards visited, describing the level of unity, commitment, and loyalty among party members as impressive and reassuring. The committee expressed satisfaction with the tour’s success and pledged to sustain the momentum while working with all stakeholders to deliver a credible and seamless primary process.

Day One: Party Leaders Reaffirm Support for Oyebanji

The first day of the ward tour kicked off at Ward 11, Ido-Ile, where former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Tayo Olauyi, and former Chairman of Ekiti West Local Government, Hon. Segun Asubiojo, pledged total support for Governor Oyebanji, jointly endorsing his candidacy for a second term.

At Ward 8, Okemesi, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Johnson Oyekola Bode Ade-Oye, outlined the numerous development projects delivered under the BAO administration in the town. These include the reconstruction of the Itawure–Oke-Imesi Road, renovation of Oke-Imesi Primary Health Centres and General Hospital, ongoing connection of Oke-Imesi to the national grid, and the appointment of indigenes into key state positions.

He also referenced the recent thank-you visit to the Governor by the Oke-Imesi-in-Council, led by former Attorney-General Barr. Olawale Fapohunda, as proof of Oyebanji’s commitment to promises made to the people.

In Ipole-Iloro, Barr. Busuyi Ayorinde spoke about the longstanding unity between Ipole and Ikogosi communities, urging members to remain united and avoid divisive politics. “There is no rift between us. We can’t go back to Egypt,” he said, while cautioning that “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”

Also speaking, Hon. Oyebola commended the physical projects executed in Ipole-Iloro, assuring party loyalists that the people were firmly behind their “Omoluabi Governor.”

At Ward 01, the Ward Campaign Committee Chairman, Barr. Tajudeen Akingbolu, reaffirmed total loyalty to the Governor’s re-election bid, declaring that the ward would deliver “99% of its votes” to Governor Oyebanji at the primary.

Carnival-like Conclusion in Ward 02

The tour ended on a celebratory note at Ward 02, where news broke of the reported disqualification of Engr. Kayode Ojo by the APC National Working Committee (NWC). The announcement was greeted with jubilation, as party members hailed it as a sign of clearer victory ahead for Governor Oyebanji.

Addressing the cheering crowd, Hon. Agunbiade praised the Governor’s leadership and urged party faithful to remain united and focused, promising that the dividends of democracy would continue to spread across the local government.
